Social Studies Time......

We started our unit on our Government:

2.02 Recognize and demonstrate examples of the elective process.

In order to catch the student's attention we had a real voting booth along with election for Student Council members from Mrs. Breen's homeroom as well as my homeroom. What a fun day. Several students were chosen to run. They made posters and had to give a speech. Then students proceeded to vote in a voting booth. In our homeroom Amanda and Milagros were our class winners!! Congrats ladies!!

Sci Works

Our class went to Sci Works on Wednesday!! It was a blast!! We were able to wrap up and review our weather unit. After watching the lady make a cloud in a bottle and learn about air pressure we were able to rotate stations. We played in snow, made snowflakes, and pinwheels. It was cold but we did get to go outside and see the aniamls. We have been reading a story about Ducks this past week and we were able to see Ducks and see their webfeet it was really neat!!

Changes is in the air.....

What a wonderful week! Change is definitely in the air at Latham. The temperature is getting cooler and leaves are changing color. This week we found out that we will be departmentalizing for Reading and math with Mrs. Breen's class. Mrs. Breen will be teaching us math while Mrs. Moran teaches us reading. We will be team teaching science together as well. Thursday and Friday we started switching classes to get the fill of things. Attached are pictures of us starting to rotate stations for guided reading groups. How exciting! Check out our comment section! Busy Week

We had a busy week..........we packed everything into a 4 day week!! In science this week we talked about Rain and we made Rain gagues. In math we are continuing to work with place value (hundreds, tens, and ones). In reading our story for the week was "Poppleton and The Grapefruit". We focused on Poppleton and even read Poppleton and The New Bed and compared Poppleton in both stories. We even got to taste a grapefruit.
